Concluding the Fontia! 2009/2010 campaign

It's been a year since the Fontian Adventuring Company - Az the Wizard, Orson in his various incarnations, Subway & Sandwich, Venti the Druid, Lagrad the Halfling and all their friends - started on their misadventures. Like all good things, this tale of derring do, much ado about nothing, and 4th wall breaking dramady has finally drawn to a close.

In yesterday's farewell adventure, our heroes bested the evil Lady Hermione Inkwell after disrupting her coronation, saved the Holy Empire of Garamond, and became some of Fontia's heroes!

Following their assault on the Cathedral of Times New Roman, our heroes, aided by the lady knight Ramen, pursued the fleeing Lady Hermione and her cultists into the bowels of the refurbished Cathedral, which had been turned into a hidden temple to Ker'flab, the terrible, non-euclidean god "He who stacks things atop other things".

After narrowly avoiding a very messy death in a corridor flooded with magical darkness and silence spells, and braving a cunningly crafted Illusory Pit, the heroes came up against one of Ker'flab's minions, a many tentacled umber hulk that very nearly made luncheon meat out of Az's ass. Fortunately, Sir Ginger Beer struck hard, and struck true with his spear, shafting the umber hulk and sending it back into the bowels of the Privy of the Universe that spawned it.

Upon breaking into the ritual chambers, the party confronted Ker'flab's cultists and Lady Hermione, who was in the process of making a hideous transformation. Joining with the tentacles of Ker'flab, Lady Hermione took on the powers of Ker'flab's avatar, and proceeded to levitate the ritual platform, causing it to hover into the air.

As the platform shot through the cathedral's stained glass roof into the sky, Lady Hermione started her attack, spewing magic rays from her spiky eyestalks and conjuring wraiths from the sacrificed cultists.

It proved to be a difficult battle - Lady Hermione's eye rays could halt Az's magic, and her tough armor was difficult for Sir Ginger Beer and Ramen to penetrate. Subway was also flung all over the place by Lady Hermione's magic rays. After the besting the wraiths, spending most of their attack spells and destroying some of Lady Hermione's magic eyestalks, she proceeded to summon three succubi, which began harassing Az and Sir Ginger Beer. She also released several magic missile attacks, which knocked Ramen unconscious, and threw Subway off the platform.

Thankfully, Venti arrived in giant eagle form, snatched Subway up, and flew onto the platform to help. The hippie druid summoned small earth elementals to harass Lady Hermione and moved to heal Ramen, putting her back in the fight. With Ramen up again, the succubi were easily chopped down, and the attack on Lady Hermione was renewed.

Lady Hermione attacked again with her eye rays, and then turned into a fearsome tentacle monster. Az was struck by a petrification beam and turned instantly to stone. Tentacles groped everyone, and grappled them.

But that proved to be Lady Hermione's last attack. Breaking free from the grapple, everyone attacked Lady Hermione, and Sir Ginger Beer struck the fatal blow. He stuck his spear into Lady Hermione's mouth, and caused her to explode into a pile of sticky goo.

With Lady Hermione dead, the magic that kept the platform aloft disappeared, and everyone started falling... falling... falling towards the ground. Luckily, Venti turned into a bird again, and together with his summoned bird friends, ferried everyone back to the ground.

Everyone except for Az. Who was now a statue.

Who plummeted down from 200-ft towards the ground.

Who then landed on young Prince Garamond the Next, giving him a nasty clout.

Fortunately, the Prince got better.

All in all, things turned out well in the end. Nobody important died. Well, Az did. Kinda.

And thusly, our visit to Fontia has come to a temporary end.

In the weeks to come, we will be updating this blog with pictures, stories, and artwork related to our year long adventure. We will also be writing about our new adventures in Faerun and Eberron, as we move to these two official settings for a brief diversion.

Stay tuned. There will definitely be more to come.
